Starfield Review: A Solid 8.5/10 After 100+ Hours
Starfield, with its vast scale, is a worthwhile game, scoring 8.5/10 after 100+ hours. However, it lacks UI polish, has minor irritations, and occasional bugs, but remains engaging and promising.
After investing over 100 hours into Starfield, I'm still holding firm at an 8.5 out of 10 rating. It's undeniably a commendable game that warrants your time, but it falls short of perfection and doesn't exactly push the boundaries of its genre beyond sheer scale. Certain aspects do get under my skin; for instance, the incessant desire of shop NPCs to regale me with their life stories, when all I want is to offload my accumulated items and collect credits (thank the stars for trade authority kiosks).
The process of ship building, particularly when using a console controller, can be exasperatingly finicky. The user interface (UI) leaves much to be desired, with some significant flaws. It seems they've forgotten what maps are in this futuristic world. UI design has never been a strong suit for Bethesda Game Studios, and I'll have to bide my time until next year when I can start modding to rectify it.
I did encounter a few bugs, my personal favorite being a moment when only my head was invisible. Fortunately, a simple restart resolved that quirky issue. Nevertheless, when all is said and done, the positives outweigh the negatives, and I anticipate sinking countless more hours into Starfield.
